FREMONT, CA – Jim Petersen, CEO and president of PetersenDean Roofing & Solar, the nation’s largest, full-service, privately-held roofing and solar company, announced that Valarie Serrato has been appointed as a member on the board of directors of Safe Alternative to Violent Environments (SAVE). This is an organization that aids individuals and families in domestic violence.
Founded in 1976, SAVE provides shelter, support and educational opportunities for individuals and families so they may end the cycle of abuse, heal and have the freedom to reach their potential.
As part of her duties on the board, Serrato will help raise awareness for the organization and its mission, educate victims of domestic violence, support victims and deter domestic violence. Additionally, she will help secure adequate donations as well as volunteer support and to help enhance the organization’s public standing.
“It gives me great pleasure to be selected to serve on the board of an organization that provides support and improves lives,” said Serrato. “This is a very worthwhile organization and I’m excited to be given the opportunity to add value to it.”
Serrato is also a member of the National Association of Women in Construction and was voted the 2016 Solar Woman of the Year.
The organization’s annual Evening of Empowerment—Hero Edition fundraiser will be held on September 30 from 6 p.m. to 11 p.m. The event will celebrate the heroes of domestic violence and include dinner, silent and live auctions, dancing and more.
